Sated – Ready to Drink Keto Meal Shake – Review

Sated – Keto in a bottle?

Sated calls this product a complete Keto meal in a bottle. The last time I checked, Keto was about eating real food, not a concoction of ingredients that comes out of a bottle. Let’s take a look at that list of ingredients and break it down into its individual parts.

Breaking it down.

The first ingredient is Milk Protein Isolate. Sounds pretty harmless right, it’s just milk. It is a milk product but it is filtered to remove the lactose and the dairy sugar. Manufacturers use it as a cheaper protein alternative when adding protein to products. It’s used to increase shelf life and enhance flavor.

Next, we have Sunflower Lecithin. Sunflower Lecithin is made by dehydrating Sunflowers and separating the oil, gum, and solids. The gum is then put through a cold pressed system and processed into Sunflower Lecithin. It can cause bloating, abdominal pain, nausea, and diarrhea.

Acacia Fiber is made from the sap of the Acacia Senegal tree. It is also known as Gum Arabic and Acacia Gum. It can cause bloating, gas, constipation, cramps, and nausea.

Cellulose, as in cellophane?

Cellulose is made from processed plant pulp. It is used as a food preservative and also as an anti-clumping additive. It is also used in the production of paper products, rayon, and cellophane, which is plastic wrap.

Flax Oil is Flaxseed oil. Is made from pressed flaxseed and spoils very quickly. It is used in making margarine, paints, varnishes, linoleum, soap, and as a waterproofing agent. It can cause bloat, gas, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, stomach ache, and nausea.

Gellan is a fermented bacteria similar to that found in beer and wine. So now your thinking, well hey if it’s good enough for beer and wine, it’s good enough for me. But let’s take a deeper look. This common food additive is not only found in food but it is also found in personal care products like shampoo, cosmetics, skin lotion, and sunscreen. In addition to that, it is found in industrial cleaners and paper production. Sounds yummy right.

Sated says their food is “Engineered for Satiety”. Is food that is “engineered”
part of a healthy Keto lifestyle?

What exactly are Natural Flavors?

Natural Flavors This is how the FDA defines natural flavors – The term natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional. Natural flavors include the natural essence or extractives obtained from plants.

And finally, we get to all the stuff aimed at making you think it’s Keto Friendly. First, we have Erythritol, Monk fruit, and Stevia. My question here is why do we need so many sugar substitutes? What other flavors are we trying to cover up? Or perhaps it’s about making it super sweet so it tastes more like table sugar or a milkshake. Last but not least there is Olive oil, MCT oil, and Coconut oil. Which in my personal opinion are added to this product to help with the belief that this is a Keto friendly. Because if you take out all the other stuff, all you are left with is oil and sweetener.  I don’t know about you but that does not sound delicious to me.

Making the healthy choice.

After reading what all those ingredients really are, does this really sound like it is part of a healthy Keto diet? To me, it’s just another product trying to make a profit off the Keto community. Simply putting the word Keto in the product name does not make it Keto. Read your labels, all the time, every time. I have given you the facts on this product, and my personal opinion. Now it’s your turn to make the choice of whether it’s right for you or not. Be Strong and Keto On!
